Mr Alan Rankins, OAM

Chairman

Alan is Chairman and a founder/owner of the Sovereign Australian Goal Group, Australia’s largest SME collaborative. Alan is the previous CEO of Goal and is the architect of the Goal Group Defence Ready® products and services, Australia’s largest non-tertiary defence training program. Alan has been involved in Defence & its industry for over 52 years, serving for 21 years in the Royal Australian Navy in Weapons Electronics and subsequently has held roles in Systems Engineering, Design Authority, and Corporate and Program Engineering Management within the defence industry.

He has held roles as National and NSW President of AIDN, Co-Chair of the Defence Synthetic Environment Working Group, and currently represents AIDN on the AIG Security Working Group and the Hunter Defence Task Force (HDTF). 

Alan is also Chairman of GuardWare Australia, an innovative, sovereign Australian, globally unique cyber protection software company that provides visibility & control of lost, stolen, hacked and shared sensitive data. 

Alan received the Order of Australia Medal in January 2023 for services to Business and Engineering, is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers & Leaders, a life member/associate fellow of IEEE and a graduate of the Institute of Company Directors.
