Mechanical Engineering Internship

Overview

This internship opportunity will involve joining SRC AUS’s Engineering Team to configure and program an SDR device to transmit a predefined signal waveform as a target, and then receive the transmitted signal with another SDR device. The aim of the short internship project is to detect, record, process and analyse the characteristic features of the emitted signals.

During the internship, you will work undergo extensive mentoring in industry best practice design methodologies to assist with the testing and evaluation of systems in support of Defence Trailblazer TESS project. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience while working under supervision of an exemplary engineering team.

You will be awarded an Internship Scholarship through a co-funded arrangement between Defence Trailblazer and SRC Aus.

Internship activities may include:

The goal is to prepare the system for high volume testing of the machine learning algorithms for signal detection, clustering deinterleaving, and classification using small form factor software defined radios as sensors.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Penultimate and final year students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
Additional Information

The internship is anticipated to commence in December 2023 and will be offered on a full-time basis for a minimum of 40 business days (8 weeks). The student will be appropriately supervised by a qualified SRC Aus staff engineer.

At the conclusion of the internship, full-time employment opportunities may be available for suitable candidates interested in future employment with SRC Aus.
