Overview

Silentium Defence is currently seeking a University of Adelaide student studying in the field of computer science to participate in a cyber security industry project through an internship commencing in August 2024.

The internship will involve working closely with Silentium Defence’s IT Team to acquire broad and first-hand knowledge and insight into the research and development activities across Defence, Surveillance of Space and Critical Infrastructure.

Internship activities may include:

Participating in a Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) sandbox or equivalent laboratory setting, where you will configure and test firewalls, implement Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and evaluate traffic for anomalies.
Engaging in Red & Blue teaming exercises to identify security breaches and applying mitigation strategies to minimize risks.

This project will help you develop essential skills in configuring security measures, detecting threats, and implementing defensive strategies.

You will be supported through an employment contract with Silentium Defence at a rate of up to $1200 per week. These paid internship opportunities have been made possible through a co-funded arrangement between Defence Trailblazer and Silentium Defence.

Eligibility Criteria

Penultimate or final year students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Computer Science and with an interest in cybersecurity
Australian citizens who can secure a base security clearance.

Additional Information

The internship is anticipated to commence in July 2024 and will be offered on a part-time basis (2-3 days/week) for a minimum of 60 business days. At the conclusion of the internship, full-time employment opportunities may be available for suitable candidates interested in future employment with Silentium Defence.
