Mechatronics Engineering Internship

Overview

Working closely with the manufacturing department of the business, during the internship, you will undergo extensive mentoring in assembly & testing of highly complex electromechanical products and manufacturing processes.

You will have the opportunity to develop your hands on skills and experience in a high value, complex in nature engineered product.

You will be supported through an employment contract with Reach Robotics at a minimum rate of $1,200 per week. This paid internship opportunity is made possible through a co-funded arrangement between Defence Trailblazer and Reach Robotics.

Internship activities may include contributing to and learning:

Manufacturing of Product: Participate in the assembly and production of our advanced underwater robotic manipulators.
Problem Solving Engineering Challenges: Tackle both mechanical and electrical manufacturing engineering issues, working closely with our experienced engineers to problem solve.
Testing and Calibrating Robotic Equipment: Assist in the testing and calibration of robotic systems
Process Improvement: Contribute to the enhancement of manufacturing and operational processes, helping achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Eligibility Criteria

Penultimate and final year students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline. Students with experience in design, prototyping and fabrication are preferred.
Australian citizens who are able to secure National Security Clearance are preferred, but not mandatory.

Additional Information

The internship is anticipated to commence April 2025 (with flexibility) and can be offered on a preferred full-time basis, or part-time basis (2-3 days/week) over a 6-month period, for a maximum of 60 business days.

The student will be appropriately supervised by a qualified Reach Robotics staff engineer.

The placement will be conducted in-person at the Reach Robotics site in Sydney.

At the conclusion of the internship, ongoing opportunities may be available for suitable candidates interested in employment with Reach Robotics.
