Mr Gerard La Fontaine

Gerard is a registered patent and trademark attorney with over 25 years experience in managing all aspects of intellectual property for industry, government and individuals. Gerard has specialised in the fields of health science, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and electronics.

After completing University in Western Australia, and working in various chemical laboratories, Gerard started his IP career in 1988 as a patent examiner.  After suffering Canberra’s cold weather for 4 years, Gerard moved to Adelaide, where he worked for many years in the Pharma and biotech industry as an IP Manager, while also gaining his patent attorney registration.  Gerard also built his own private patent attorney practice helping small to medium businesses with their IP needs, before joining the University in 2016.
