Penultimate or Final Year Software Engineering/CS Internship

Overview

The internship opportunity will involve joining DEWC Services to assist with intelligence automation or life-cycle management of machine learning algorithms for Defence.

During the internship, you will undergo extensive mentoring in industry best practice design methodologies, exposing you to the tools and processes used to develop software and/or machine learning models for DEWC Services clients. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience while working in a Defence environment at DSTG Edinburgh or at the company’s facilities in Mawson Lakes SA.

You will be supported through an employment contract with DEWC Services at a minimum rate of $1,200 per week. This paid internship opportunity is made possible through a co-funded arrangement between Defence Trailblazer and DEWC Services

Internship activities may include:

Full stack development for intelligence automation involving microservices (springboot) and micro front ends
Research and development into machine learning model operations
Model training and wrapping
Containerised workloads
Secure development operations practice

Eligibility Criteria

Penultimate and final year students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of software engineering, computer science or disciplines related to data science, data engineering and/or machine learning

Additional Information

This face-to-face internship is anticipated to commence in May 2025 and will be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis for a total internship duration of 60 business days.

You will be appropriately supervised by qualified DEWC Services staff.

At the conclusion of the internship, full-time employment opportunities may be considered for suitable candidates interested in future employment with DEWC Services.
