Ms Rachel Bickley

Acting Senior Manager, Academic Liaison University Library

Rachel’s professional interests include Open Scholarship, critical pedagogy, education for social justice, and critical collection development. She has considerable experience of working in academic liaison in university libraries in both the UK and Australia, and currently leads a team who support research, learning and teaching, and information and digital literacies across Adelaide University and is passionate about her team’s role in supporting open and equitable access to information, research impact, and the development of skills to navigate the information landscape of today’s (and tomorrow’s) world.

She was one of the founders of the #ebooksos campaign that called for an investigation into the academic e-book publishing industry in the UK, and has spoken at a number of conferences and events on the need for critical library collection development and adopting more sustainable practices around access to scholarly material. She continues to advocate for Open Scholarship practices to make the results of research available to everyone who could benefit from them.
