Rurex, through the Byrock Explosives Test & Evaluation Centre (BETEC), operates Australia’s only private EPA and SafeWork NSW licensed facility dedicated to explosives testing, research, and classification. Purpose-built for safety, security, and confidentiality, BETEC supports defence, industry, and research partners with advanced capabilities for the testing, evaluation, and disposal of explosives and dangerous goods.

Our facilities include UN-compliant test equipment, multiple adaptable firing ranges, hardened bunkers, EO storage, a cast melt plant, and Australia’s only private 12 m drop tower and bonfire testing. We specialise in UN classification, transport authorisation, LAT/FAT, and STANAG/IM testing.

As a TRL-enabling partner, Rurex supports development across TRL 4–7, offering options to conduct R&D and classification manufacture either through our team or under licence using yours. Whether validating a prototype or qualifying a new material, we deliver safe, data-rich, and compliant outcomes — helping ensure your concept moves confidently toward field-ready capability.
