Trajan Project Internship

Overview

The internship opportunity will involve joining Praetorian’s autonomous systems development team to develop a new prototype aircraft as part of an inter-disciplinary team of engineers working on the Trajan Project. You will work closely with senior engineers to conceptualise a new class of uncrewed aircraft utilising a novel configuration.  The development project will focus on a unique dual wing hybrid-powertrain Virtual take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft capable of high-speed flight.

During the internship, you will work as a team, undergo extensive mentoring in industry best practice design methodologies and be exposed to the tools and processes used to develop high performance autonomous systems. You will have an opportunity to develop your skills and experience while working on a real-life design project and realising a proof-of-concept vehicle.

You will be supported through an employment contract with Praetorian at a rate of $1200 per week. This paid internship opportunity is made possible through a co-funded arrangement between Defence Trailblazer and Praetorian Aeronautics.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Penultimate or final year students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Aerospace/ Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline are preferred
  • International and domestic students are both encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to domestic students.
Additional Information

The internship is anticipated to commence on 1st July 2024 and will be offered on a part-time basis (2-3 days/week) over a 6-month period, for a minimum of 60 business days.

The student project team will be appropriately supervised by a qualified Praetorian Aeronautics staff engineer. During the placement, you will be expected to spend 1-2 weeks to work together at Praetorian’s offices in Lot 14, adjacent to the University of Adelaide campus.

At the conclusion of the project, full-time employment opportunities may be available for suitable candidates interested in future employment with Praetorian.
