Defence Trailblazer hosted a University-Industry Masterclass in Adelaide on 24 September, bringing together researchers, PhD candidates, and professional staff. The half-day session focused on the practical realities of commercialising university research and building effective collaborations with industry. Held in person, the event fostered open dialogue and shared learning across disciplines and career stages.
Participants engaged with real-world case studies and expert-led discussions that unpacked the challenges of translating research into commercial outcomes. The masterclass explored the spin-out process, investment readiness, and the nuances of negotiating collaborative projects, offering attendees a grounded understanding of how to navigate the commercialisation landscape.
By equipping researchers with the tools and insights needed to engage with industry, the event helped strengthen the bridge between academic discovery and real-world application.
