National Industry PhD (NIPhD) Program
The Australian Government’s National Industry PhD Program (NIPhD).
The program connects PhD students with industry partners, to address sector-specific challenges through collaborative research. Successful candidates will divide their time between academic and industry settings during candidature, exploring research translation and cross-sector mobility and promoting knowledge transfer between academia and industries across all areas.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The NIPhD Program consists of two streams:
Industry Linked PhD stream: Designed to attract university student talent
- Industry-led – Projects are co-designed by university and industry
- Placement – Candidates can be embedded in an industry setting throughout the candidature
- Affordable – Industry contribute $10,000 p.a towards the student stipend
Industry Researcher PhD stream: Designed for highly capable industry professionals
- Government Subsidy – Employers receive $46K subsidies to support staff salaries and other costs
- Grow your knowledge base – staff undertake a PhD project in partnership with a university
- Ongoing employment – staff retain industry employment and enjoy full salary benefits
