Dr. Ayad Al Mahturi’s unique journey

Dr Ayad Al Mahturi (PhD in Mechatronics): Team Lead, Avionics and Control Systems at Geodrones

Ayad received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with a special focus on self-learning control approaches for autonomous systems at the UNSW Canberra.

After completing his study, Ayad landed his dream job. Ayad is currently the Lead Avionics and Control System Engineer with Geodrones Australia, and heads the avionics and sensory payload team. He thrives in a dynamic and challenging environment, and excels in developing smart sensors and AI-based control solutions.

“Securing my current position was a result of the expertise I gained during my PhD. Through extensive experience in real-time experiments, I was able to transfer my knowledge from the university lab to the industry,” Ayad said.

Ayad’s pursuit of higher degree research studies gave him the opportunity to work on innovative research projects, collaborate with renowned experts in the field, and contribute to furthering the engineering profession.

“This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of complex engineering problems and honed my problem-solving abilities. Participating in various international conferences also expanded my network and exposed me to cutting-edge research,” said Ayad.

Ayad is excited about what the future holds, “I want to push the boundaries of engineering, mentor aspiring engineers, and contribute to solving global challenges through technology and innovation.”
