Lily Attwood is up for the challenge. She’s currently completing an MPhil (Civil, Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering) whilst working as a Research Associate in Hypersonic Testing, both at UNSW Canberra.
“I love working on a defence aligned project because I get to work with real industry stakeholders on real technology. I feel like I’m at the cutting edge of what I’m doing, and it’s awesome to be a part of sovereign capability development,” said Lily.
This interface between the University and the Australian Defence Force Academy is a unique advantage to Lily. Her learning is enriched with hands-on experience and expert mentorship.
“We not only get to be immersed in the uniformed military world, but we also have some excellent researchers and senior academics working on defence-based projects – especially in the field of hypersonics.”
Lily is keen to complete her MPhil and move straight into a Defence Trailblazer PhD project.
“I have a real passion for and investment in the development of sovereign capability…so I’m excited about the opportunities to come!”
