Spotlight on QuantX Labs industry PhD student Lachlan Pointon

Adelaide University PhD student Lachlan Pointon is carrying out atomic and laser physics research in the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS). His Defence Trailblazer-supported industry PhD with QuantX Labs focuses on developing the next generation of portable rubidium optical atomic clocks.

“Development of the next version of portable optical atomic clocks is vital to Australia’s defence industry and critical infrastructure,” said Lachlan.

The Quantum Silicon project – a collaboration between Silex Systems Limited, Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) and UNSW Sydney – has been awarded Best Industry-Research collaboration by Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia. The strategic collaboration is supported by $5.1 million from Defence Trailblazer’s Advanced Innovation Fund.

TeraGlo expands collaboration to advance space sensing capability

TeraGlo has confirmed its commitment to advancing sensing in Space by signing on additional work with the University of Adelaide’s Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS), supported by funding from the Defence Trailblazer’s Advanced Innovation Fund. The project will enable the development of a sovereign platform for Quantum Artificial Intelligence based Material Sensing (QAIMS) based on Novel Fluorescence (NF).
